Our China Vacation - Part 1 - The Sights

Last November Chris and I took a vacation to China for 2 weeks, which was one of the best vacations we had. It was his first time seeing China; I was totally stoked to show him this beautiful and full of history country. The first 7 days we joined a tour group took us through Beijing, Xian, and Shanghai, the last 7 days we stayed in Shanghai visiting my family, shopping, eating, and sightseeing where I became Chris’ tour guide.

A little bit of background histories of the sights we have visited:

1. Beijing, China’s capital, also served as the capital for 5 dynasties over 800 years. We visited Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven, Great Wall one of the wonders of the world, and Olympic Park where Beijing hosted the 2008 Olympic.
2. Xian was also my first time to visit; this city was the state capital for 11 dynasties, we saw the Terra-Cotta Warriors, Tomb of the Emperor Qinshihuang, the ancient City Wall, and Huaqing Hot Spring.
3. Shanghai, the largest commercial and financial center of China, we toured Yu Garden, the famous Bund, and Pearl Tower.

Here are some gorgeous photos throughout our tour taking by Chris.

I took this photo of Chris in the Forbidden City.
